Supporting Asian American Mental Health Through Community Collaboration
Coming Together for Mental Health: Our Partnership with MHACC
We’re excited to share that our foundation is teaming up with the Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities (MHACC) to support mental health in Asian American communities.
This partnership means a lot to us because mental health matters, and it’s time we all start talking more openly about it to bring more awareness to these issues.
Why We’re Partnering with MHACC
Mental health is something everyone deals with, but not everyone feels safe talking about it—especially in Asian American communities, where cultural expectations and stigma can make it really hard to ask for help. Many people grow up being told to keep their struggles inside, to stay strong, or to “just deal with it.” But the truth is, everyone deserves support, and no one should have to suffer in silence.
MHACC is doing powerful work to change this. They offer bilingual mental health services, education, and outreach that speak directly to the needs of Asian American families. They understand the cultural nuances, the language barriers, and the quiet pain that so many people carry—and they’re creating spaces where healing can actually begin.
Why This Work Is So Important
Asian Americans are among the least likely to seek mental health support, even though many are struggling with things like anxiety, depression, trauma, and burnout. Whether it’s due to cultural shame, fear, or a lack of accessible care, too many people are left without the help they need.
Mental health isn’t just a personal issue—it’s a community issue. It affects how we connect with our families, how we show up for each other, and how we live our lives. When we support mental wellness, we’re not just helping individuals—we’re strengthening whole communities.
What We’re Hoping to Do Together
Here’s what we’re working toward with MHACC:
Supporting community events and outreach that break down stigma
Expanding access to bilingual and culturally aware mental health resources
Creating spaces where people—especially youth—feel safe talking about their experiences
Partnering on creative projects like the Sunshine Mental Health Cup, which uses music to spark conversation and connection
Our hope is that by working together, we can help build a future where mental health is talked about openly and taken seriously, no matter your background or culture.
Looking Ahead
We’re proud to support MHACC and the incredible people working to make mental health care more inclusive, accessible, and compassionate in Asian communities. And we’re grateful to be part of a growing movement that’s making space for honesty, empathy, and community care.
